Does anyone remember a TV sitcom where..

the hero does a good deed for another character, who doesn't have any funds to reimburse him, so it is decreed then that the recipient has to serve as the hero's butler?

I swear I saw this on more than one sitcom as a kid, but can't find a single reference to it anywhere.

Thanks in advance.
