Foster + Partners reveals designs for Paraguay's tallest skyscraper

https://www.dezeen.com/2025/07/17/foster-partners-paraguay-skyscraper-sudameris-bank/

Architecture studio Foster + Partners has released designs of an "elegant" skyscraper in Asunción, Paraguay, that is set to be the headquarters for Sudameris Bank. Sudameris Plaza is set to reach 188 metres (617 feet) at 39 storeys, making it the tallest planned in the country, set to outpace the 142-metre-tall (466 feet) Icono Tower. It will contain the bank's offices on the first six floors and the two highest levels, while commercial office space will be in the middle.

Renders of the building show a series of rectangular, concrete frames that wrap up and over a glazed centre. At the base, the frames bend slightly inward, while they expand over the cap of the building. The ground level of the site contains "low-rise" retail space, which is contained in a glass-enclosed block, and a garden and landscaped plaza.

"The elegant tower rises up from the green, shaded gardens at its base, creating an exciting new destination with cafes, shops and social spaces that are completely immersed in nature," said Foster + Partners head of studio David Summerfield. "The greenery travels up the building through sky gardens, improving wellbeing by offering varied breakout spaces that generate new connections with nature."

According to the team, visitors will enter a double-height lobby, which will be set back from the street by a landscaped garden. Inside, open-plan workspaces will be located on the north side of the building, while "collaboration spaces" will be located towards the south and look out over a new public garden. The double and triple-height office floors will also be connected to outdoor terraces. The top of the building will contain private offices, a boardroom and a gallery space.

I just think the interior is incredible, but I'm easily impressed by modern architecture.

Norman Foster is 90 years old and still incredibly productive.
