I did try the usual standby, vigorous plunging while swearing and several buckets of hot water.
So tomorrow am a plumber will be visiting my bank account

(831 posts)I find when my toilet is plugged, I give a good squirt of dish washing liquid into the toilet and let it stand for an hour or so. The soap helps as a lubricant. Then I fill a bucket and keep pouring the water carefully into the toilet to provide some pressure. If that doesn't do it, I repeat the process until it comes unclogged. So far, in the 21 years I've lived here, I haven't had to call a plumber for a toilet.

(35,850 posts)The tub drain is less then a foot from the toilet. Apparently, from Google research cast iron pipes hold up for 80-100 yrs, depending. My house is 70 yrs old.

Good luck!

Could be real, could have been an attempt at upsetting.
Phew, but now I can use my bathroom after I clean it.
