Underwent surgery for my kidney stones yesterday. Still recovering.

Can’t keep anything down, even with anti-nausea medication. There’s a stent in there, so it hurts every time I pee.

Having my first coffee in forty-eight hours. Man, did I need it!

If yesterday’s procedure buys me another four years without kidney stones, I’ll take it. But just barely…

I originally told my boss I needed Monday through Wednesday. But now I think I’m going to have to take the rest of the week off, as well.

Thank you for your kind words.

Fortunately, I haven’t experienced kidney stones yet, but my brother both have. They say it’s painful, very painful.

I’ve spoken with female kidney stone patients before, and they say it’s worse than childbirth.

On the 1-10 pain scale, they’ve told me that childbirth clocks in at around an 8. So, out of respect for mothers everywhere, when I’m asked my pain level, I never say higher than 8.

No pain at all, but won’t be able to use it again because I now have a pacemaker.

Found out I’ve been dehydrated all of these years. Went into kidney failure and found out That’s why.
Sip water all day now.
Good luck.

Nothing worse than being nauseated! When I had chemo years ago, the anti-nausea medication they gave me did diddly squat until they gave me a medication called Emend and that helped a lot.

Enjoy your coffee! I would miss coffee, too. Take care and feel better soon!

that blasts kidney stones before admitting you for surgery? It uses sound waves to break the stone into smaller bits that can be passed.

Maybe that option wasn't available or it didn't work in your case?

Any history of kidney stones in your family that you're aware of?

I already got the immunization for shingles. Wish there was one for kidney stones. I'd get that shot too!

Get well, Aristus!

Hope the nausea eases. There are OTC accupressure wrist bands that might help. Other accupressure points too, that you press with your fingertips, but it's been awhile since I used them.

You can find chakra music to ease nausea on You Tube that might help. We used the alternative methods along with pain meds, tried anything we heard of.

is Réve, by Vangelis. I used to play it on an endless loop at lunch in my office back when I was working at the homeless clinic.

I’d post a link so you could enjoy it, but I can’t do that from my phone.

I found chakras to comfort cats and the last 2 kitties who needed peace seemed to really like the tones. I noticed the last kitty moved closer to the tablet, as if to hear better

I can look for a link. Thank you for sharing the idea.

I've heard many kidney stone stories (I used to work for an airline; kidney stones are something of occupational hazard for pilots - and can be grounding - because they spend so much time in the very dry atmosphere of an airplane), and it sounds just awful, like writhing on the floor awful. I do hope you get better soon and don't get those things again.

to get an acute attack of kidney stones mid-flight. I know he’d turn it over to the co-pilot, and they must have a zillion protocols and checklists for this sort of thing.

But still…

And can get rid of the stent. I always have a hard time drinking as much water as prescribed. I end up setting a timer.

I’m a frequent flyer where kidney stones are involved and have an upcoming scan in a week to see if I have another one.
