Argh, Medicare!

First time I've run into this, have you? 12 days before my wife's procedure, they emailed that they needed more info for authorization. My wife doesn't read her email, it's all spam, right? So when I checked on things today and responded, the word is that you have to get prior authorization 10 days prior... so she has to reschedule.

This is so crappy! There is no question she needs the procedure, the idea prior auth. wasn't granted is a bad sign to me regarding the ahem current administration's enshittification of Medicare.

Sigh. I'm even thinking of going out of pocket.

is this real Medicare, or "Medicare" Advantage?
Reauthorizations are supposed to be coming next year, in certain states, and for certain procedures.

Doesn't happen with Medicare or Medigap
Your wife should read her email. Unsubscribe to stuff she doesn't want, and it will dwindle.
