What words of wisdom do you remember?
For me, the one that's lasted the longest is from Issac Asimov's Foundation series. Hari Sheldon, the mayor of Terminus City, had a sign in his office that read "Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent."
I read that back in the early 70s and it's always stuck with me.

(6,422 posts)I read this in second grade and it has stayed with me until now, over 70 years later.
"A person's a person, no matter how small." To me it meant that everyone, no matter how insignificant, is deserving of respect. I think it hit me because there was so little respect in my home for anyone who wasn't my dad.
