30. I Once Programmed A Synth...

...to get that cheesy organ sound.
I named the program "96?" because of that song.
Later, on every instrument I had a similar patch, I named them "Cheesy Organ".
The organ used on that song was a Vox Continental. I had the little brother; the Jaguar.
They sounded essentially the same, but the Continental had much more tone control.
But, I owned it when we were doing Deep Purple or Uriah Heep, so I ran is through a guitar distortion box to get that growl, not the thin, clear, reedy sound.
Was built like a tank! There are likely many of these organs still around in perfect working order, despite being 60 years old.

Since the song was released in 1967 when tattoos were far less common than today, it seems way ahead of its time.
