Hi Mom!

My Mom passed away 19 years ago today, at age 86. Memorial Day fell on May 28th that year, so it is easier to remember the anniversary of her death than some others. I've thought of her this week. My Mom was remarkable for brewing and drinking super strong black coffee. I couldn't drink it. I remember my son-in-law drinking a cup for the first time, and looking at his cup with an indescribable look on his face. Being a good sport, he drank the cup, but declined a refill.

This morning, I set up my coffee maker, and left it to brew while I got some music going and put my headphones on. When I came back in the kitchen, the coffee maker was off, and only about halfway through its cycle. I checked the cord, looked at the clocks in case the power has blipped off. I didn't see a reason, so I hit the button and it came back on. Being the way I am, I think it was my Mom saying hi. I like those 'pennies from Heaven.'
