Tried acrylic pour painting for the very first time.

I hope to get better as I go along and learn more.

Working on small 5x7 budget cradled boards until I learn what I’m doing and then I might try something larger.

I feel with abstract work, more of my spirit or subconscious comes out.

Have you guys tried this technique? It’s really fun.

I think pour paintings are also done with watercolors sometimes, where you block out your whites ahead of time and pour the paint onto the paper.

Art therapy is pretty much all process based, with the presumption that the art form is an autonomous entity wishing to create through us. Great stuff!

When I studied Art Therapy there.

She has written some fabulous books about the process:

Art is a Way of Knowing

And

Art is a Spiritual Path.

The 1st one is basically the master of art therapy method.

Enjoy!

At around 11:40, you’ll hear the director ask the painter about Cyndi Lauper. Earlier the tribal people were shown the We Are The World video and this painter was very taken with Cyndi .

See I am using too much paint with the pouring mixture. I will make an adjustment when I try a second time!

He was always artistic. But after he retired, he really got into doing abstract art on big masonite panels. He bought latex houseplant and would pour the paint onto the panels and let it flow wherever it wanted. My brother and I now have several hundred of these!
