"Bright Lights, Big City" The Animals 1965 (Ed Sullivan)

In 1964, The Animals (with Eric Burdon) was part of the warning salvo ahead of the pending British Invasion.
Unlike the Fab Four, the Animals were not the band you took home to meet mother.

As was the custom back then bands were known to rock up old American blues songs to great success.
"Bright Lights, Big City" was penned by the great Jimmy Reed in 1961 and covered on The Animals' 2nd American only release "The Animals On Tour". Though it wasn't a live album, it featured a number of old blues song from the likes of John Lee Hooker, Chuck Berry, and Ray Charles. It made #99 on the Billboard Chart.

Chas Chandler, the man who later discovered Hendrix is on bass. He was known for suggesting that Hendrix use his actual name and set his guitar on fire. Bad boys indeed.
