Although this recording of it sounds like it is missing something, perhaps a track or two out of eight.

The Beatles Channel on Sirius satellite radio sometimes does guest spots in which a listener plays three Beatles songs of his or her choosing and narrates some interesting factoid about each song. One listener played I Am The Walrus as one of his three selections. He recalled that Beatles fans often tried to identify hidden meanings behind Beatles lyrics. John Lennon wrote the lyrics to that song, the listener said, and the reason for its apparently nonsensical lyrics was that Lennon was trying to foil the people who were trying to read some kind of lofty meanings into Beatles songs.

Well, I don't know if that is true, but if that was indeed Lennon's purpose and intent, he failed. I have listened to that song hundreds of times since the first time I heard it in 1966, and those weird lyrics actually have some kind of weird meaning to me. They actually make a crazy kind of sense to me! Those words fit that song perfectly. Everything about that song is pure genius, and I'll never get tired of it!

If I had ever been a father to a daughter, and if I had been the one who got to name her, I would have named her, first and middle name, Semolina Pilchard.
