"'Jesse Colin Young, who died on March 16, 2025, was a kind, generous, and gracious man who experienced his own personal darknesscontracting Lyme disease in 2009, losing his California home to a fire, struggling with songwriting for several yearsbut he always returned to the lights at the center of his lifehis family and his music."

Jesse Colin Young, the voice of 60s anthem Get Together, later sang about Lyme disease
Anyone who was around during the late 1960s is sure to remember these words:
Come on people now
Smile on your brother
Everybody get together
Try to love one another
Right now.
Jesse Colin Young and the Youngbloods were not the first to record the song Get Together, but their version became a huge hit and helped propel the group to stardom. In 1972, the band broke up, and Young continued on with a successful solo career.
And then, he started having serious physical and psychiatric problems that turned out to be Lyme disease, which he eventually wrote about in a song called Lymelife.
That's the start of a very good but long article by Dorothy Kupcha Leland (president of LymeDisease.org) that you'll find at the link, along with video of the song Lyme Life. There's no paywall, so you can read all of it there.
