It’s the live single mix I guess. The vocals are a little further forward and sound very proximate in parts. I never noticed this back in days it was on MTv a few times. Love this song and Gabriel era.

The official 'I Don't Remember' video, directed by Marcello Anciano and produced by Eric Fellner.

I Don't Remember was originally released on Peter's third solo album but this video uses the live single version that was released in support of the Plays Live album, in 1983. That said, it's not exactly the same as the version on the Plays Live album, as this single mix is slightly sped-up, has less crowd noise and an extended instrumental outro.

That Atlantic dropped Gabriel rather than release the album is a 'real hindsight is 20/20' moment, right up there with Warner/Reprise cutting Wilco loose for having the temerity to record Yankee Hotel Foxtrot.

Tony Levin playing his MM Saber fretless bass.
Its so liquid.
From the very beginning of the song he hits the high bass notes (oxymoron?) by sliding into them. Great example is around 1:09. Another one at 3:04. Awesome stuff.
This song is probably my favorite PG tune, in part because of the bass.
