Piled carved stones on a rocky hill in Athens.

A few from the Parthenon in Athens. Glad we were there in the off season. Even so there were a good number of people. Ten years ago it was mobbed in September and teh temp was 95F plus. Still worth seeing. The scale is enormous. Currently doing renovations hence white areas where they have replaced or stabilized sections.

One that Lord Elgin missed.

A capital idea.

First sign of a shithole nation. They don't have a good ballroom.

Yes Alice, it's sarcasm.

You timed your visit perfectly. Scaffolding goes back up middle of next year.

But it is in the interior. My wife had never seen it without the scaffolding.

You can get a better look.
But they look better in place. But now protected from the elements.

Good time to go. Fewer people at this site.
Get reservations and get an earlier time slot. We enjoyed the two big museums, Archeological and Acropolis. The Acropolis museum is also over Roman ruins and you can see the excavation.

If you are not with a group meander through the Plaka area. Enjoy the little cafes and restaurants.
Enjoy your trip.
