The song "Son of Mr. Green Genes" was released on the 1969 Hot Rats album, which is a re-arrangement of the song “Mr. Green Genes” from the double album Uncle Meat, released earlier that same year in 1969.

Frank was not the actual son of, nor any relation to, Hugh Brannum, who played the Captain Kangaroo show character Mr. Green Jeans, for whom the song is an homage to.
