I watched the first couple episodes and they seemed pretty predictable. Then, as I posted here already, the 3rd episode blew me away and I figured I'd keep watching. The 4th episode was pretty meh. Is the rest of the season and season 2 great? Or just another "Plague wipes out most of the planet" scenario?
Life is too short to watch shows and movies that are just okay.

(34,597 posts)and I like it. It has long, slow moments but it makes me wonder what is next. I am going to wander from it if the only thing is newer, different bad guys.
Actually I am hanging on to see Jeffery Wright. I don't know how long he will be on it or how much during that time but I make it a plan to always watch him. I caught on to him a long, long time ago and just love watching him. Basquiet (sp? in a rush here), that long ago. He is worth waiting for.

(5,536 posts)Because, I need to talk to someone about it. All I can say after just viewing 2.03: WTAF? I was not expecting that to go down. Maybe people who have played the game knew that was going happen, but I was blindsided, to say the least. I thought the ep was going to be all about the epic battle at Jackson Hole, but, Jesus, no it wasn't. I can't say anything more without spoiling it for those still in season one.
Damn.

(34,597 posts)but this one has me unusually unsure about what is actually happening. Usually I could talk at length but not this show, not yet anyway. Overall I like it because I like the cast and because I like these kinds of shows until I don't get it. The casting here makes me want to keep watching, at least a little longer. They have a LOT of work to do to make me hang much longer unless my dumb old brain can find something to hang on to. LOL

(5,536 posts)Sorry about that. Also, I wasn't looking to discuss the series as a whole, but rather just the one big event at the end of the second episode. Any thoughts on that?

(34,597 posts)I know nothing about this show as a show or as a video game so I am watching mainly because I like the cast and I like these kinds of shows. I try not to think of it when I am this far from even getting anything more than, "Big boom, funny looking murder creatures, run run run and kill kill kill.
I will eventually catch up. Sorry.

(5,536 posts)After the game-changing, earth-shattering, what-the-actual-fuck-did-I-just-witness moment at the end of episode two, I thought I was asking for a simple reaction to that one specific moment. And, since you and I seem pretty alone in not having played the game on which it's based, I thought that made you a good person to ask. But, never mind.

(34,597 posts)If I seemed upset (?) it was just me being frustrated because I also feel lost. If I gave you the impression you were bothering me I am terribly sorry. You were not but I have no more idea about this show than you do. I am sorry.

(17,841 posts)So far, season 2 is so unlike the game.
Season 1 followed the game almost to a t.
I never finished TLOU 2. May not finish this season on TV either.

(34,597 posts)My opinions are only from someone who does not know about the game. I am glad you said that AllyCat, ,my opinions are probably skewed.

(109,266 posts)I was caught off guard and so havent started s2 after seeing the promos seemingly making Bella Ramsey as unpleasant as possible. I have been a fan of hers since Game of Thrones but honestly, it seems as though the producers have reduced her interaction with Pedro Pascals character and her features into a very unpleasant sneer that I dont want to watch. Why they would do that, I cannot fathom. She is a good actress and has a funny side too (apple commercial) but that promo oh my.

(5,536 posts)Season one has its ups and downs, but there are some good stories. Maybe episode three was the pinnacle of season one, but the rest is pretty good.
Also, I never played the game, and I'm glad because for me there's nothing to color my opinion of it. It will fail or succeed for me on its own merits.
