According to an Arizona Department of Public Safety press statement, the agency’s Major Incident Division is investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting of Berkleigh Jade Bond around 8 a.m. May 25.
Bond, 39, was from Wichita Falls, TX. She is survived by three children, according to social media postings by her friends.
Details as to whether the traffic stop of a white sedan on westbound I-10 was a routine, random activity or undertaken due to targeted surveillance of the car or Bond were not available Thursday, a DPS spokesperson noted in reply to questions from Herald/Review Media.

She was going to be taken into custody for having fake license plates, giving a bogus name and having warrants from other jurisdictions.
Troopers said Bond resisted arrest, so the trooper used a stun gun on her.
Bond ran back to her car and the trooper chased after her.
She continued to struggle with the trooper and that’s when Bond shifted the car into drive and hit the gas, the department said, with the trooper partially hanging out of the car.
