WASHINGTON Dupont Circle is officially closed for WorldPride weekend. Police were in the area early Friday morning roping it off. The latest move comes after the original closure sparked backlash from neighbors, prompting a reversal from D.C.'s police chief.
Now it appears the temporary closure is back on. A spokesperson for the National Park Service told WUSA9 that the park would be closed from 5 a.m. on Friday to approximately 6 p.m. on Sunday.

After days of flip-flopping and backlash from community members, District officials have made it official: Dupont Circle Park will be closed through WorldPride festivities this weekend.
A record of determination dated June 5 and signed by Kevin Griess, superintendent of the National Mall and Memorial Park, confirms the U.S. National Park Service will be imposing a temporary closure that runs until 6 p.m. on Sunday.
The closure, which went into effect at 6 p.m. Thursday, came at the request of the U.S. Park Police.
In USPPs professional opinion this closure is necessary for the maintenance of public health and safety and protection of natural and cultural resources in Dupont Circle Park, Griess said in the filing.
