DEKALB COUNTY OFFICIALS TO REVIEW POLLING SITE CHANGES FOR GEORGIA PSC ELECTION AMID CONSTRUCTION DISRUPTIONS

DeKalb County Election officials are preparing for a special meeting to discuss temporary changes to polling locations ahead of a forthcoming election. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, the Board of Registration and Elections will review proposals to adjust two polling sites for the Georgia Public Service Commission (PSC) special election.

The discussions, set to take place on today at 10 a.m., stem from construction activities at the original voting sites. One of the proposed changes would move the polling place from Henderson Mill Elementary School to Warren Technical School for the combined precincts of Henderson Mill (HC) and Midvale Road (MW). The Toney Elementary (TC) polling place would relocate from Toney Elementary School to Kelley Lake Elementary School. These adjustments, as noted by Keisha Smith, DeKalb Voter Registration and Elections Executive Director, are to ensure the voting process remains uninterrupted. "If approved, my office will mail notices to all impacted voters, place signage at the original polling places and share this information across our various communications channels to minimize voter confusion and inconveniences during this election," Smith said in a statement reported by FOX 5 Atlanta.

Residents wishing to express their opinions on the proposed changes can attend the meeting at 4380 Memorial Drive, Suite 300, in Greater Decatur, or email comments to electionspubliccmnt@dekalbcountyga.gov. Email submissions are required to be a maximum of one printed page in length, using at least a 12-point font, and must be sent within a specific time window before the meeting begins.

The DeKalb Elections Board has assured that these changes are temporary and are aimed at maintaining a safe voting environment. "Ongoing construction at previously designated Election Day polling places requires DeKalb BRE to consider a pivot to nearby locations to ensure a safe and convenient voting experience," Smith elucidated in a press release obtained by Decaturish. The board's proactive approach is designed to keep the voters informed and to minimize any potential confusion.
