Framingham: 6 vie for town's support for pot dispensary

FRAMINGHAM – Six applicants are vying for letters of support from the town in their bid to open a medical marijuana dispensary in Framingham.

Town Manager Bob Halpin said Beacon Compassionate Care, CommCan Inc., Garden Remedies Inc., MassMedicum, Prime Wellness Center and Manna Wellness all submitted proposals by the town’s deadline last Friday.

Under a process the Board of Selectmen approved last month, Halpin and other town officials will now work to evaluate and rank the proposals.

Selectmen have said they would support issuing one, or perhaps more, letters of support or non-opposition that applicants need to obtain a license from the state to open a dispensary.
