Several Mass. cities elect new mayors in historic Election Day

SOMERVILLE, Mass. — Several Massachusetts cities, including Somerville, Brockton and Everett, saw the election of new mayors Tuesday evening, ushering in new futures for communities.

In Somerville, mayor-elect Jake Wilson promised an open door at City Hall.

"The people are going to be my bosses when I'm mayor of this city. I'll never forget that," Wilson said. "I'm not going to put up walls and close doors and shut myself off from them."

Wilson, the at-large city councilor, beat a fellow councilor for the mayoralty.
