(Detroit Free Press) For every action in nature and some in human affairs theres an equal and opposite reaction.
When Birmingham resident Nikki Sapiro Vinckier adorned her front yard with matching campaign signs promoting Kamala Harris for president, an anonymous neighbor said they had to come down. Having a batch of signs violated city ordinances that stipulate just one sign, according to the neighbor, who stuck a list of intimidating rules about signs in Sapiro Vinckiers mailbox.
The rules looked real. But Birminghams mayor and city manager both said, in effect, "Nothing doing put up all the signs you want until the election," Sapiro Vinckier said. That unleashed her more-than-equal-and-opposite reaction. The happy Harris fan ordered a whole lot more signs and planted them in her front yard. They're printed on one side in a design widely available on Etsy and other Internet sites; and they show on the reverse a Harris quote that Sapiro Vinckier chose, which rings true for her: "We must be a nation that trusts women."
"In total, I have ordered or helped facilitate the ordering with my design of over 7,000 signs," she said. Many came to Michigan, but "hundreds have shipped to other swing states," she said. ..............(more)

as an aside, i do believe that the one thing JD Vance is 100% sincere about is his absolute hatred of women. He and TCFSF have that in common, along with many if not most republicans.

(24,511 posts)in 1990 candidate Michael Collier ran for US Congress in the Democratic primary against a DINO he was unknown so put up yard signs in March of that year for a Sept primary. The City took his signs down from private yards and he sued in court. It went to the Washington State Supreme court and he won his case 9-0 declaring the City of Tacoma's electoral yard sign unconstitutional.

(16,768 posts)Political Signs, considered "personal expression signs", are permitted in the Township and do not require a sign permit. However, residents should please note that:
Residential lots may have up to three temporary signs in the yard.
Personal expression signs are only allowed in your own yard; they are not permitted to be placed in the Township's Right-of-Way (ROW), which is the area between the sidewalk and the street. In areas with no sidewalk, the ROW is typically the area between the utility poles and the street.

(7,802 posts)When I park on Federal property, I'm limited to one regular sized bumper sticker on my car. As long as everyone else is held to that standard, I'm fine with it.
So far I haven't noticed any egregious violations...no Trump flagged pickups, no cars covered with stickers. But it wouldn't surprise me. The building I work in is pretty conservative (but not exclusively).

(114,199 posts)I've never even seen a TFG bumper sticker or red hat in the wild, although I'm sure I'd see them over close to the Texas border.
I never thought it was intimidation, I just thought it was a total lack of enthusiasm or either side.
I can't speak to this year, blind old bat is blind.
