Ellenburg, Conley lead the voting in primary election for Burton City Council
BURTON, MI -- Two fixtures in Burton politics finished with the most votes for City Council in the primary election on Tuesday, Aug. 5, according to unofficial results from the Genesee County Clerk’s Office.
Ellen Ellenburg, who previously served as a council member and member of the county Board of Commissioners, led the way in Tuesday’s voting with 1,286 votes, followed by Tina Conley, a former council member, who received 1,198.
Tuesday’s primary election narrowed the field of candidates from eight to six with the top six vote-getters advancing to the Nov. 4 general election.
Candidates are competing for three open council seats. The winners in November will each receive a four-year term on the governing body.
