Benton Harbor voters narrow commissioner race to four in primary election

BENTON HARBOR — Benton Harbor voters chose the four candidates who will compete for two city commissioner-at-large seats in the general election in November.

During Tuesday's primary election, Shaquille Turner received the most votes at 284, followed closely by former Benton Harbor City Commissioner MaryAlice Adams with 283 votes, according to unofficial election results from Benton Harbor Clerk Tiffany Moore.

Rounding out the bottom were newcomer Deidre Fields with 274 votes and Mayor Pro Tem Duane Seats with 254 votes.

When contacted by phone Tuesday night, Turner said he plans to talk even more with residents before the November election to hear what their concerns are.
