I don't understand why endorsement is so important

Why can’t voters go to the polls, or mail their ballots and cast their votes for their preferred candidates.

Why can’t voters do their homework to study where their candidates stand on issues that are important to them. Or to compromise on other issues. I think that party endorsements are making disservice to voters.

In 2022 the DFL endorsed Mary Moriarty for county attorney and many thought that her opponent, Martha Holton Dimick was a Republican.

Endorsements can be nice but should not be sole guidance for voters on how to cast their votes.

We had a horrible republican representative, he ticked off Trump and lost . Trump endorsed someone who was worse and the really disgusting bootlicker won. There are no news organizations only billionaire propaganda. If they wanted to research, which they don’t. It is almost impossible to find neutral sources.

I’m sure some newspapers got their rocks off thinking they could choose winners with their endorsements. And over the years, there’s no telling what candidates were willing to “pay” to be endorsed by the big papers.

With papers’ waning influence, why do something that really doesnt matter and will likely alienate a large group of your readers, many of who are just looking for a reason to cancel.

Democrats didn't like the party line - which was essentially an endorsement by elected County Committee members.

If I'm snotty about endorsements, that's why.

Voters can do these things whether there's an endorsement or not.

People and organizations choose to endorse because it gives their members a chance to weigh in on where their political resources -- money, data, campaign materials and in some cases campaign coordination -- will go. "No endorsement" is an option people can bring up as well.
