Minnesota schools see referendum successes in 2025 election

Voters across Minnesota approved dozens of school district referendums in Tuesday’s election, raising property tax rates to pay for operating costs, building renovations and technology needs.

Results posted by the Minnesota Secretary of State’s Office show 60 of the 96 school referendum questions passed. The Minnesota School Board Association said the ballot questions totaled nearly $1.6 billion.

Some districts, like Nicollet Public School, asked voters to approve multiple ballot questions, resulting in multiple increases to property tax rates.

Voters in the small community north of Mankato approved both an operating levy increase and a $7.6 million building bond. Superintendent Robin Courrier expressed excitement and relief Wednesday morning at the results.
