I think this might be a good idea for high school

When I was in high school we had long periods with the last 10 minutes in many classes used to start homework. I am 75 and don't remember the detail, other than one period was at a different time each day creating a diagonal where they replaced the normally scheduled class. On Friday, they were replaced by a time for clubs. So, 6 classes each meeting 4 times. However the school day stayed the same. 4 longer days could provide longer classes, four days a week - just as we had.

For younger kids, I wonder if they have studied how long a day the kids could tolerate and thrive.

As to child care, certainly there are high school kids who baby sit.
