A look at the Omaha primary election results and campaign funding

The Douglas County Election Commissioner shows the vote count was close between incumbent mayor Jean Stothert and John Ewing, Junior.

Looking at the numbers the Douglas County Election Commissioner currently has, the vote count was close between incumbent mayor Jean Stothert and John Ewing, Junior.

Jean Stothert - 25,056 votes
John Ewing - 21,623 votes
Mike McDonnell - 13,859 votes

This wasn't the first time Stothert faced a close vote count in the primary with a rivaling candidate. The closest race was in 2017 when Stothert went up against Heath Mello. He's currently the president and CEO of the Greater Omaha Chamber.
