District Judge Tod Young announces re-election bid
Douglas County District Judge Tod Young has announced that he will run for re-election next year.
Young has served as the District Court Judge in Department One of the Ninth Judicial District Court Since 2013. He was first appointed to that position by Gov. Brian Sandoval and has been re-elected twice since then.
I am honored to serve the citizens of the State of Nevada and especially the people of Douglas County, Young said. This has been my home for more than 30 years. It is where my children were raised and is the community I call home. We have made great progress in modernizing the judicial system and affording greater access to justice for our citizens. During my service as judge we have created efficiency in the Judicial branch of government by developing a unitary budget, a new jury management system, a soon to be opened electronic filing system and CASA and SAFE programs that are the envy of the state. All while being financially responsible to the taxpayers of the county.
Filing for judicial races is Jan. 5-16, 2026. Both Youngs and Judge Tom Gregorys positions are up for election.
Young has twice been elected to serve as chairman of the Sierra Regional Judicial Council, has been appointed by the Nevada Supreme Court to serve on many committees and commissions, including the Access To Justice Commission, Guardianship Rules Committee, Guardianship Forms Committee, Family Law Subcommittee, Judicial Leadership Council and the legislative subcommittee of the Judicial Leadership Council.
