APS school board candidates gaining endorsements as Election Day approaches

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Election Day is next week. That means you still have time to research your ballot before you cast your vote. This year, there are 4 seats open for the APS school board, and some candidates are receiving support from different organizations.

Both the Albuquerque Teacher’s Federation and the Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce are endorsing candidates in the race. They both say it mostly comes down to wanting our students to succeed, but each group has different ideas on the best way to do that.

The teacher’s union is endorsing Kristin Wood-Hegner, Warigia Bowman, and Rebecca Betzon. The Chamber is endorsing Courtney Jackson, Danielle Gonzales, Joshua Martinez and David Ams.

Ellen Bernstein, President of the teacher’s union, says they’re endorsing who they feel will value our educators, which in turn will lead to student success.
