Canandaigua supervisor race flips after mail-in ballots counted. Now separated by 14 votes

CANANDAIGUA, NY — After Election Night Nov. 4, Republican Canandaigua Supervisor Jared Simpson was leading Democratic challenger Don Cotter by one vote.

After roughly 350 countywide mail-in ballots and affidavits were counted Nov. 12, Cotter, who is co-owner of CDGA Coffee Co. and co-founded Naked Dove Brewing Co., is now in the lead, according to unofficial results from the Ontario County Board of Elections.

Cotter received 34 of the mail-in and affidavit votes, which, when added to the 1,707 votes counted for him after election night, leaves him with 1,741 votes, 14 votes ahead of Simpson.

Simpson, who had 1,708 votes after election night, had 19 more added to his total, leaving him with 1,727 votes.
