🔥Dog boarding facility in North Carolina forced to close by Sunday, more than 40 dogs impacted

GARNER, N.C. (WNCN) — For more than 15 years, K9 Kabana Dog Resort in Garner has been a second home for hundreds of dogs and their families, but this Labor Day Weekend, the day care and boarding facility is being forced to close its doors after the property owner didn’t renew their lease.

The sudden shutdown leaves clients scrambling during a holiday weekend, with less than 48 hours to pick up their pets. With more than 40 dogs spending the long weekend there, owner James Margolis said the timing couldn’t be worse.

“Chaos, pure chaos. So, we are trying to get in touch with parents to pick up their kids* by 4:30 on Sunday just to make sure there are no kids on premises because they’re threatening to change locks. And if that happens, I can’t have my kids locked here and not have access to them,” he said.

Margolis begged the property owner to give him more time to find a place, but says the only response he got was from their lawyer, saying they had to be out by Sunday afternoon.

K9 Kabana is a dog daycare in Garner, North Carolina, and it is in deep trouble.

According to the owner, James, the landlord has asked for an exorbitant increase in the rent, which would require him to raise prices to untenable levels. He's trying to find a new location, but it is challenging. Initially, he was told he could go month-to-month, but is now being threatened with eviction by this weekend, with a further threat to take everything on the property.

Our dog Daisy has tried multiple daycares, but this is where her friends are. The staff is amazing, and she gets excited every time we get close. It has won multiple awards, is a fabulous local business, and is a pillar of the Garner community. It would be an absolute tragedy if it closed.
