Maumee City Council candidates pitch to voters ahead of election

MAUMEE, Ohio (WTVG) - Maumee City Council candidates said the past year and a half has been a turbulent time in Maumee, but they want to work to close the division they see among residents.

During a candidate forum, seven citizens running for Maumee City Council spoke about how they would work through addressing the sewer crisis response, transparency with residents, managing finances, hiring for city positions, and building trust with the community.

Seven candidates will appear on the ballot for Maumee City Council: Jon Fiscus, Isiah Gonzalez, Andrew Huyghe, Philip Leinbach, Dave Poeppelmeier, Scott Sund, and Chelsea Ziss.

All seven spoke at the forum, which was co-hosted by the League of Women Voters of Toledo-Lucas County and the Maumee Chamber of Commerce.
