SPOTLIGHT RACE: Megan Coy for OH-HD17
Megan Coy is running for State Representative in Ohios House District 17. A registered nurse, Megan is starting her second term on Olmsted Falls City Council as Councilwoman At-Large. District 17 includes Berea, Broadview Heights, North Royalton, Olmsted Falls, Strongsville, and a portion of Olmsted Township.
Megan is running for the Statehouse because she has seen how our healthcare system is failing our communities, and her patients and neighbors need a champion in Columbus. Her advocacy for her patients starts in the hospital and extends to the legislature.
Megan has a BA from Francis Marion University in South Carolina, a Masters in Public Health from the University of South Carolina, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Cleveland State University. Before returning to Ohio for nursing school, Megan worked for three years as a health educator-like far too many people have experienced, Megan had her position eliminated due to budget cuts. In her ten years of nursing practice, she has worked in pediatric surgical/trauma, general pediatrics, imaging, and oncology.
In 2021, Megan purchased her first home in Olmsted Falls, a wonderful community where she could afford to build a life. Just a few short years later, she was asked by friends and community leaders to run for Council because of how invested she had become in the area. She is proud of the connections she has made with members of the community, from neighbors to small business owners. As a Councilwoman Megan has been a tireless advocate for the people of Olmsted Falls, living by the mantra that the people are the boss. She is committed to transparency, communication, and honesty in her work on Council.
Megan grew up in Avon Lake, Ohio, and is the daughter of Tom and Carolyn Coy. Her mom is a retired public school teacher and her dad works in the HVAC industry. Megan credits her parents with instilling a strong work ethic and community-service mindset.
