Democratic landslide in Pennsylvania 'definitely sending a message' to GOP just a year after Trump victory

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette link: https://www.post-gazette.com/news/election-2025/2025/11/08/pennslyvania-gop-democrats-voter-turnout/stories/202511080039

SUBHEAD: Nearly every corner of the state saw Democrats maintain and flip seats in public office, from mayoral races to school board elections

Voters made Lincoln Kretchmar the first Democratic mayor of Beaver in at least 80 years. In a small Chester County borough, the state’s first openly transgender mayor, Democrat Erica Deuso, was elected.

And in Bucks County, voters picked Joe Khan to be the county’s first Democratic district attorney in modern history — the same day Democrat Danny Ceisler ousted incumbent Fred Harran in the sheriff’s race. Nearly every corner of the country’s largest swing state saw Democrats maintain and flip seats in public office, from mayoral races to school board elections.

Even in Allegheny County, with by far the most registered Republicans of any county in the state, Democrats flipped seats and voted to retain Democratic Supreme Court justices — and Mayor-elect Corey O’Connor won every district in the city of Pittsburgh in defeating Republican Tony Moreno, garnering at least 29,400 more votes than fellow Democrat Ed Gainey did in 2021.

“When you look at other places across the country, literally every major race is moving in the same direction,” said Christopher Nicholas, a Harrisburg-based GOP consultant. The success for Democrats transcended Pennsylvania — and served as a rebuke of President Donald Trump’s agenda, analysts and political operatives told the Post-Gazette.

There are Democratic wins all across the state, but it's gratifying and energizing to see this happen here In Pittsburgh and the southwestern corner of Pennsylvania.

Also, we KNEW Corey O'Connor was a shoo-in for Mayor of Pittsburgh, after he won the Democratic primary in May.
