Five MSCS board seats pulled from ballot after judge rules against election plan

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Five Memphis-Shelby County School board seats are being pulled from the ballot after a judge ruled against the plan to align school board elections with Shelby County Commissioners.

The seats being removed from the ballot belong to MSCS Board Chair Natalie McKinney, Stephanie Love, Tamarques Porter, Sable Otey and Towanna Murphy.

The seats formerly up for election would have cut the terms of those five board members in half, as they are elected in staggered terms. While those specific seats will be pulled from the ballot, the other four seats will stay on as planned.
