Court rules that cat can't live in Fredericksburg library - KVUE

FREDERICKSBURG, Texas — Some folks in Fredericksburg are unhappy after a beloved library cat named Pepper was told to pack her treats and toys and hit the road.

A viewer told us that the Gillespie County Commissioners Court and a judge held a closed meeting on Tuesday and decided their beloved kitty named Pepper must go.

We reached out to the Pioneer Memorial Library and were told by an employee that, "as a county employee, we can neither confirm nor deny that this happened."

We have emailed the Gillespie County judge for a comment and are awaiting their reply.

A change.org petition that was created to try and save the kitty from being evicted has collected more than 7,000 signatures as of Friday afternoon, though it's unclear what it might be able to do.

No reason given for the decision to "evict" Pepper the cat? A complaint by a library patron? FadedMullet Saturday #2
It could be a valid complaint if someone was allergic to cats. TexasTowelie Saturday #4

I know two people (my sister and a college buddy) that are allergic and from the picture it appears that Pepper is shedding a lot of fur.

…..library, but I would hope that they might balance their needs against the happiness of other library patrons, particularly children.

So severe that if anyone in the house came into contact with cats, or went inside a house with indoor cats, we had to change clothes and rince off before we entered our home. After years of allergy shots, she realy improved. She still has to be careful, though. I wonder if it's an ADA issue.
