Mansfield voters elect Todd Simmons to City Council in runoff election

Todd Simmons has secured a spot on the Mansfield City Council, filling the at-large Place 5 seat after a four-way special election.

Simmons, an independent financial adviser, won 62.6% of the June 7 vote in his runoff against Melisa Perez, owner of Marylou’s Coffee and Sandwich Shoppe.

The runoff election was necessary because neither candidate won 50% of the vote on May 3.

Place 5 incumbent Julie Short triggered the special election in January when she ended her term early to run for mayor.
