Suzi Rumohr wins District 3 Council seat in city's first runoff election in 5 years

Suzi Rumohr has secured the District 3 Council member seat over Margie Ellis in the city’s first runoff election since 2020. Rumohr won the election with a 65.57 percent of the total vote of 1,423, according to the unofficial results for Denton County.

Rumohr’s campaign ran on providing more housing options, improving road safety and improving efficiency of the city council.

“There’s a lot of relief,” Rumohr said. “My next thought is it’s time to get to work.”

On May 3, Rumohr led with 44.5 percent of the 2,113 total votes. Ellis finished with 27.78 percent of the total vote and made it into the runoff by two votes. Ellis led over former candidate Karen DeVinney, who finished with 27.69 percent, and did not make it into the runoff election.
