Matt Brown plans to run for re-election to Yakima City Council
Yakima City Council member and Deputy Mayor Matt Brown plans to run for re-election this year.
In a news release, Brown, 36, said he has been a voice for responsible budgeting, neighborhood revitalization and open government, and has focused on public safety, roads, homelessness and economic growth on the council.
During his first term he hosted regular town halls in District 6, led a shift to priority-based budgeting, voted against tax and utility rate increases, launched an Adopt-A-Block program and worked to support the Harman Center, public safety and efforts to reduce homelessness, the release said.
His priorities for a second term include protecting property rights, opposing new regulations and taxes, supporting small businesses, shrinking government interference and ensuring Yakima grows with freedom, fiscal discipline and local control, he said.
