Mixed-reality theme park opens on Seattle's Ship Canal

A new type of entertainment has arrived in Seattle. DreamPark, a mixed-reality theme park, has opened to the public in a 25,000-square-foot space in Queen Anne's West Canal Yards.

The park, located at 1100 W. Ewing St. on the Lake Washington Ship Canal, is the first of its kind in the Pacific Northwest, according to the company.

Co-founded by Brent Bushnell, Aidan Wolf and Kevin Habich, the park aims to create an immersive entertainment experience using mixed-reality technology to overlay digital worlds onto physical environments. The experience is accessible through Meta Quest headsets and mobile devices.

Bushnell is a Seattle-based entrepreneur and son of Atari and Chuck E. Cheese founder Nolan Bushnell.

DreamPark is designed primarily as a location-based mixed reality experience, meaning you need to physically visit one of its real-world access points—such as QR markers in public spaces like Santa Monica Promenade or Seattle’s Canal Yards—to launch and play its immersive XR games .

Here’s a quick breakdown:

🗺️ On-site setup required: You must be at a DreamPark-enabled location and scan a physical marker (e.g., QR code) to begin the experience .

🎮 Uses pass-through mixed reality headsets (like Meta Quest): These let you overlay digital elements onto your real surroundings—but only when you're physically at the venue .

---

❓ Can you use DreamPark remotely/offsite at home?

No—at least not yet. Currently, the experience is tethered to location-specific access points.

That said, their technology is downloadable to Meta Quest and mobile devices, meaning it could be adapted for home or remote use in the future—but it’s not available today .

---

✅ Short Answer

> No, DreamPark cannot currently be accessed off-site with a VR headset. You must visit one of their physical mixed‑reality access points in a designated public space to start the experience.

🌱 Looking Ahead

With their “downloadable theme park” vision, they might eventually offer remote or home-based XR experiences via Quest or smartphones. For now, though, DreamPark is best experienced in person at select venues around Seattle, Santa Monica, and other planned locations.
