I've been at this for some time....

1. It's almost impossible to know what they do (besides Skype, who I thought shut down this year) ...

... can you make some suggestion for a computer truck-driver? I know how to use my 'puter, but I am not clear on added software.

2. What do you need to accomplish?

Secure communications? something else? I'll try and help...

3. Part of the problem, I really do not know what I need. Something that will get Microsoft to leave me alone ...

... I use duckduckgo and mozzilla. I am not tech enough to go to some sort of OS system. I'd like something with some different fonts and tricks like reversing fonts. AD hiders would be good.

I really appreciate your effort to get we DUers out of the electronic stone-age.

4. I use the Brave browser

it automagically blocks alot of stuff, I also use FFox with Privacy Badger and UBlock Origin
the latter are plugins for the FF browser.
