"Frankly, sometimes I'm a bit shocked at the ignorance of a lot of punditry. There are those out there who are actually suggesting that this potential for a diplomatic solution to Syria's use of chemical weapons just fell out of the sky yesterday. Anyone who suggests something like that should be automatically dismissed from ever reporting on things like this. That's not how it happens.

Here's Gwen Ifill reporting on her interview with President Obama last night.

In an interview with PBS, President Obama said if there is a diplomatic path to stop the use of chemical weapons in Syria it would be "overwhelmingly my preference."

Obama also added that he and Russian President Vladimir Putin had talked about the plan now on the table both during the recent G-20 meeting in Russia and during another meeting last year in Mexico."

President Obama bullied the bully and he backed down. Sure, give the credit to Putin, I wouldn't be surprised if it was part of the agreement.

4. Yes, mg.. this is the desired solution. And, of course, it's great that Putin's

on board with this and a little bit surprising, but hugely pleasantly so. President Obama must have had quite the talk with Vlad when they were all at the G20 meet up.

6. Yeah, I'm also amused

by anyone who thinks Kerry's statement was an accidental slip. Yeah, right! No matter if he did add, "it would be virtually impossible." The Syrian equivalent told Putin later that Syria would be agreeable. So Putin gets to prance around looking 'smart'(?) and President Obama can look at Congress with that cat-in-the-cream grin he has. Though they won't admit it to save their lives, the GOP KNOWS THEY'VE BEEN UPSTAGED.

Kerry's had enough experience talking about these negotiations with Syria and Russia to know exactly what he's saying.
