From FB page...God Bless the President of the United States-they provided the link for me with this quote, which I had never heard before.

(91,513 posts)2. WOW!
He could have gone to the most opulent of law firms, David Axelrod, a longtime friend who is now Obamas media adviser, said. After Harvard, Obama could have done anything he wanted. What he wanted was to practice civil-rights law in Chicago, and he did, representing victims of housing and employment discrimination and working on voting-rights legislation for a small public-interest firm.
Thank you Babylonsister!
I love this excerpt!

(53,661 posts)3. It is a choice of the heart, sheshe. One of my best friends was from Boston. He had the accent.
He moved out the west coast and when he finished his career and took retirement, he did what he had always wanted to do. Enrolling in law school, he finished and followed his heart.
His specialty was criminal law and civil rights and he was a creative and fierce advocate, using the knowledge he had for those he considered having been ignored by the powerful.
The man was a hero to me and others, fearless and determined. He passed away last year and is sorely missed. He could have taken an easy path and not gotten involved to save lives of people society didn't care about. Thank God he followed his heart, just like our president.
