Texas man arrested after intentionally driving Cybertruck into lake to test 'wade mode,' police say

(San Antonio Express-News) A Texas man is facing criminal charges after intentionally driving his Cybertruck into a lake, authorities stated in a Tuesday post to social media.

The incident unfolded just before 8 p.m. Monday at Katie's Woods Park Boat Ramp in Grapevine, located approximately 25 miles north of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. When officers from the Grapevine Police Department arrived at the scene of the incident, they discovered that "a Tesla Cybertruck was in the water, near the shoreline."

The driver told authorities that he intentionally drove into the lake to test the Cybertruck's "Wade Mode" feature while other passengers were in the vehicle.

According to Tesla's Cybertruck owner's manual, the feature "allows Cybertruck to enter and drive through bodies of water, such as rivers or creeks." However, the feature comes with several warnings - and states that "The maximum wade depth is approximately 32 in. (815 mm) measuring from the bottom of the tire."

and that he said he’d successfully driven in the lake a couple times previously. Dumbass trying to show off for someone visiting him.

... would piss away nearly $100K on the ugliest vehicle ever conceived, with its multitude of problems and malfunctions, staggers the imagination. Not to mention, how does anyone that stupid manage to scratch together $100K in the first place?

... even a dumpster serves a worthwhile purpose, which is more than can be said for that piece of crap! Interesting note: When the motorized bed cover is in place, you can't see out the back window. which is really narrow in the first place. I imagine it has a rearview camera, but so does our Honda, and there are times, especially in bad weather, when the camera is useless.
I wouldn't take one as a gift.
