Quote for the Day:
If you want to understand what people think about Donald Trump, look at the market. The bond market, the stock market. These are aggregates that cannot be bullied. They cannot be cajoled. They cannot be made to genuflect. These are anonymous people voting on what they see as the future of the American dollar and the American economy, and the future profitability of Americas publicly traded corporations. And, cumulatively, that vote is a kind of collective puking. The bond rates are puking, and the stock market is puking. It's a bunch of negative feedback.

(113,254 posts)the people and institutions that are selling off. I doubt that will last much longer and I'm finding it difficult to be particularly optimistic about any part of the US economy while these ideologically driven ignoramuses control the White House and Congress steadfastly refuses to do its job.
Whether or not Putin's Pet Piggy lasts his full four years, thinks are not going to magically improve once he's gone. Trust takes a long time to build but is destroyed rather quickly and it's going to take world markets a long time to trust the voters in the US to forgo electing another raving lunatic to the White House and let him play dictator.
I just hope we can get out of this without a new large scale war.

(49,966 posts)Was thinking just that thought last night. He's cornered. What other option does he have? He's clearly playing Hobbes' Leviathan. He will rule every aspect of your life, from womb to cradle to education to war and peace, and suspend civil rights. But corporations can fire and pollute you as they please.
