In a significant leap towards a sustainable future, Estonia has achieved a new milestone in the field of hydrogen energy. The country celebrated the successful test charging of a GE C30 locomotive battery using COOLERGIZER, a cutting-edge hydrogen fuel cell-based mobile charger developed by European firm COOLERGY. This event not only marks a major achievement but also signals the potential for cleaner energy solutions across various modes of transportation.
What Happened in Tapa?
The demonstration took place at the Tapa Depot, a key location in Estonias railway network. Here, Operail, an Estonian railway operator, showcased how the COOLERGIZER can power the batteries of the GE C30 locomotive, a widely used model in railways.
Technical Specifications and Benefits of COOLERGIZER
The COOLERGIZER is no ordinary charger. It is a robust device capable of generating up to 80 kW of power and supporting a wide range of voltages from 27 to 380 V. This flexibility allows it to charge not just locomotives but also planes, yachts, and cars, making it a versatile tool in the push for greener energy sources.
Demonstrations Spread Across the Baltics
This successful test in Tapa is part of a larger initiative known as the Great Hydrogen Voyage, which features a series of hydrogen charging demonstrations across the Baltic region. The journey includes stops in major cities from Tallinn to Madrid, showcasing the capabilities of hydrogen power in various transportation sectors....more
