This is for everybody who wondered why the US chased this tanker all the way across the Atlantic and why the crew was so desperate to flee.

I think this explanation of what was on that tanker is the most likely. Either it was Maduro's haul he was hoping to follow to Moscow or it was payment for the anti aircraft weapons that failed so spectacularly. In any case, Putin wanted that money very badly , enough to issue threats of submarines interfering with its capture. The captain and crew certainly didn't want anyone poking around on the ship which was supposedly empty, no contraband. nothing to see here, move on.
