This British-Australian doctor has seen the unspeakable in Gaza. He wants to shout from the rooftops

Wed 23 Apr 2025 01.26 EDT

When Israel shattered the ceasefire in Gaza last month and resumed its large-scale bombardment, the British-Australian doctor Mohammed Mustafa had just clocked off at the emergency department of what was the last fully functioning hospital in Gaza City.

“It was so intense that the windows blew off their hinges and I had fallen out of my bed,” he tells Guardian Australia’s Full Story podcast.

The 35-year-old emergency physician from Perth was on his second medical mission in the besieged territory volunteering for the Palestinian Australian New Zealand Medical Association at al-Ahli Arab hospital, also known as the Baptist hospital.

Children and women began arriving at the hospital with extreme injuries, including burns and missing limbs. Mustafa knew many would not survive the night.

3. It's called cross-posting. I've done it before and seen many other DUers do it...

If I've already read an OP in another forum, I just move on without having a whinge about it. Life's too short

.But given the prolific activity of the poster in the course of the past several hours, I was wondering if he was running out of material to post, and offered my assistance.

I have offered my help to DUers before before and seen many DUers do it. The worst that could happen is that my offer would be ignored or declined, and I would move on.

Unless I am inclined to respond to subsequent comments.

Particularly on snark being indispensable to keeping up with this exchange.

I know it's the middle of an election campaign and things are busy, but I fear the government's rather insipid reactions to Israel's actions in Gaza and the West Bank may lead to seats being lost by the ALP in areas like Western Sydney. I'd rather the seats be held by the ALP rather than an Independent, who can be an unpredictable voice for an electorate. Disclaimer: I proudly voted for an Independent Senator for the ACT and will do so again in early May. David Pocock is progressive with his politics and has yet to hold a view I don't wholeheartedly support. Plus he's doing a fantastic job in the Senate.

Did the doctor ask to see any jailed protestors who haven't been tortured to death yet?
