1. not exactly 'celebrating' - - - here is what NPR reports ....

NPR - All Things Considered - Aug. 18, 2025
TEL AVIV, Israel — Leaked audio recordings broadcast Friday reveal remarks by Israel's former chief of military intelligence about the price he believed Palestinians should pay for Hamas' Oct. 7, 2023, attack.

The tape recordings, aired by Israel's Channel 12 TV, captured former Maj. Gen. Aharon Haliva saying in Hebrew, "The fact that there are already 50,000 dead in Gaza is necessary and required for future generations."

He went further, saying that for every Israeli killed on Oct. 7, 50 Palestinians should die.

"It doesn't matter if they're children. I'm not speaking out of revenge. I'm talking about a message for future generations. From time to time, they need a Nakba to feel the cost," Haliva said.
This image made from video provided in December 2023 by Israeli Defense Forces shows Aharon Haliva, then the head of Israel’s military intelligence in Gaza City, Gaza Strip.

The term Nakba — or "catastrophe" — refers to the mass displacement of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians during the war that accompanied Israel's creation in 1948.

It is the first time a former senior Israeli military figure has been heard endorsing a high Palestinian death toll in Israel's nearly two-year-long offensive in Gaza, saying it was "necessary." The date the remarks were made was not broadcast.

'disregard' - 'indifference' - could certainly be argued. but not the same thing as 'celebrating'.

And of course - casting a misleading light is the purpose and intent in such wording.

The NPR reporting I linked was plenty harsh and revealing. Without resorting ...

5. I find it irrelevant if someone "celebrates" the murdering of children en masse or if their warped view of the world

compels them to even try justifying murdering children en masse.

At the very least the former is more honest.

In your previous post, he states

"It doesn't matter if they're children. I'm not speaking out of revenge. I'm talking about a message for future generations. From time to time, they need a Nakba to feel the cost," Haliva said.
This image made from video provided in December 2023 by Israeli Defense Forces shows Aharon Haliva, then the head of Israel’s military intelligence in Gaza City, Gaza Strip."

NOBODY needs another Nakba except for committed Zionists that believe there should be no Palestine, and that whatever Palestinians remain should be under the boot of Hitler excusing Netanyahu.

I agree with your take on the npr article, but I don't believe the minister's supposed crocodile tears in having to commit ethnic cleansing and genocide.

I believe he's celebrating it under the guise of "false concern" about having to murder children for the sake of future generations! Give me a break!

8. OK. But then you chose to layer (and prefer?) your own 'interpretation'

over what the actual dialogue presents. And the word 'celebrate' almost certainly has certain (deliberate) connotation. If you chose to stand behind it - that's your call. But - it's there, and is being employed, for specific reason.

12. Everyone uses their own interpretation as to what reality is.

One can stare into and argue over what constitutes a knothole in a tree or you give the alarm that the entire forest is burning.

That someone; especially someone in power can even say such a thing, and attempt to justify or normalize this most heinous policy is a celebration of the act.

The acts cannot even exist without the policies or approval; whether tacit or otherwise by those in power and that's a concrete celebration.

7. It's the celebration of having achieved a goal.
Tue Aug 19, 2025, 07:32 PM
Tuesday

The goal was to "teach a lesson" by "humiliating, slaughtering, murdering". Because it was "necessary" and "required". And it could only be done if 50 Palestinians were killed for every Oct 7th victim.

Those were his words. Through which he not only admitted to those things having been done but having knowledge of it and approving it.

It's sick.

The fact that there are already 50,000 dead in Gaza is necessary and required for future generations. OK, you humiliated, you slaughtered, you murdered, everything is true,” said the former military chief.

except that you co-opt the word 'celebration' - in rendering an 'interpretation', in place of what the actual dialogue provides.

The title might be a bit hyperbolic but that is because many people are ignoring/dismissing the killing/ethnic cleansing of people in Gaza and the West Bank.

do descendants of the cruel holocaust Jews were subjected to during WWll, commit the same horror against the Palestinians of Gaza today?

Such cruelty is beyond explanation. I'll wait for Netanyahu/Israeli apologists to chime in to try to defend the impossible task.

So he knew. They all knew.

From The Independent, a direct quote:

The fact that there are already 50,000 dead in Gaza is necessary and required for future generations. OK, you humiliated, you slaughtered, you murdered, everything is true,” said the former military chief.

All of them deserve to be locked up. Including the soldiers who did the slaughtering and murdering. They knew too.
